Beverley Races Today – Get Beverley Racing Tips for East Yorkshire Track
Racing at Beverley in the East Riding of Yorkshire has been taking place for hundreds of years. A trip to picturesque Beverley races today doesn’t look all that different, save for the modern grandstand.
In this complete guide to the famous old course, we delve into the history, the configuration and the races which we provide Beverley racing tips for.
History of Beverley Racecourse
The first recorded racing at Beverley dates way back to 1690 in the latter part of the Stuart Era. In 1752, the founding of The Jockey Club saw the occasional race meetings at nearby Westwood Pasture formally recognised.
Within seven years of Beverley Racecourse opening, they built a grandstand for spectators attending the annual meeting. In the 19th century, Beverley races played host to a three-day meeting in the week following on from what is now the Dante Festival at York in May.
The Hilary Needler Trophy for two-year-old fillies was first run in 1965. That juvenile event celebrates 60 years in 2025, then. The only Listed race that take place at the course today, meanwhile, is the Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (first run in 2004).
Is Beverley Races Today Jumps or Flat?
Beverley hosts Flat racing only. The race track is right-handed but galloping with tight turns. Though it’s relatively flat down the back straight, the home straight has a stiff uphill finish to it.
There is sometimes soft ground and, combined with that uphill run, it can be tough for horses with poor stamina, which is an aspect we account for with our Beverley racing tips.
A full circuit of the round course is one mile and three furlongs, with a spur leading into the home straight for five-furlong races and two-mile contests. There’s a start for mile-and-a-quarter races adjacent to the entrance to the back straight.
Draw bias can be a big issue at Beverley, as the sharp right-hand bends on both the sprint spur and round course help those from a low draw. This is especially true on the five-furlong course and it’s another consideration AI algorithms make when producing the tips for Beverley races today you can see above.

Hilary Needler Trophy

One such filly was Attraction, who won this race in 2003. That victory was something of a springboard in the career of a horse that would win the 1000 Guineas the following year and was rated as one of the best fillies in the world at one stage.
Two Year Old Trophy
At the same meeting racing, fans can also enjoy this Class 2 conditions race for two-year-old colts and geldings, also over 5f. It features a 25,700 first prize.
Again, this is one of the last recognised trials for juveniles going to Royal Ascot. American-bred horse Shareholder was the winner of the Two Year Old Trophy in 2024.

Eddie And Violet Smith Conditions Stakes
The season finale at Beverley in September sees this Class 2 5f sprint, in which horses compete for a £10,300 first prize.
With few runners and the betting generally quite close, our Beverley race tips can come in handy for this one. The joint-second favourite Tees Spirit was the winner in 2024.
Coconut Cup Fillies’ Handicap
The Class 4 race has been a higher grade race in the past. Restricted to fillies and mares rated 0-85, it runs over a distance of an extended mile, it takes place at the first of the track’s three July meetings.
Prize money for the winner stands at £8,200, having been worth nearly double this at one stage. The 15/2 shot Moonspirit took home the lion’s share in 2024.
