Formats on Our Betting Odds Calculator
The best way to calculate potential winnings – for any types of bets – is by using the odds format you’re most comfortable with. We provide all three of the most popular racing odds types in the UK, which are fractional, decimal, and American odds.
- Fractional Odds – This is the most common odds format in UK horse racing betting. Put simply, fractional odds show the profit that can be made relative to the stake you place. For example, odds of 3/1 mean you can generate £3 in profit for every £1 you stake.
- Decimal Odds – Decimal odds are mostly used by sports bettors in continental Europe and places like Australia or New Zealand. They are easy to understand, showing the total return including stake for a unit wagered. For instance, odds of 3.00 means you’ll receive £3 (including £1 stake) for every £1 staked.
- American Odds – American odds, also known as US or Vegas odds, display in either positive or negative prices. Positive American odds (e.g., +300) show how much you can win from a £100 profit, while negative odds (-300) indicate the stake required to win £100.
Our free bet calculators handle the heavy lifting and can even convert odds between different formats. This helps when you want to break down prices shown in decimal into fractional, for example.
